Absolutely, no formal qualifications are required for the inspection of the smoke alarms, however they do have to be maintained and installed in accordance with AS3786. You have to study the location and the correct type of smoke alarms to install to suit the construction year of the property and its class. Sufficient record keeping is also required.
- Comprehensive check of all landlord-supplied electrical appliances;
- Comprehensive switchboard checks to ensure that residual-current devices (RCDs) are correctly installed and functioning correctly; and
- Trip RCD to test whether it is functioning correctly.
